Task 5 - Pitch

Task Five – Pitch

I am here to present one of the most successful energy drinks on the market. There are many different flavours available. These are; cherry, orange, caribbean burst, elite orange, orange lite and lemon and lime lite. The ingredients are water, glucose syrup citric acid, acidity regular (sodium citrate, calcium carbonate), flavouring, preservatives (potassium sorbate), sweeteners (aspartame, acosulfame K), stabiliser (acacia gun), vitamins (niacin, panthenic acid, B6, B12). These ingredients are the same in all Lucozade Sport drinks.
The target audience that we are targeting this to is teenagers and young adults. We will use this advert to appeal to these age groups because young people are the most active age range and they are most likely to but an energy drink such as Lucozade Sport.
From my research, I found out that the most popular slogan used is, 'Faster. Stronger. For longer'. I could produce a different slogan in order to make more people interested to make more money. From my market research, I found out that the name of the drink, (Lucozade Sport) made all of the adverts based on sport. To make this different, I have chosen to make our advert based on dance because it is unique.

I did some market research and found out that I could improve by producing an advert as I will focus it more on a suitable age range. Also, by focusing on male and female, and not just be focusing towards males like most of the Lucozade Sport adverts. My group and I had a focus group to find out what people thought about our chosen product. By having this focus group, I found out that most people thought that the advert that we showed was slightly sexist. We concluded that we would include both females and males in our advert. I created a survey online for all ages and different genders to complete. We had the result that most teenagers are much more active than older people. By creating this survey I found out that both genders drink Lucozade Sport, whereas from my market research I found out that nearly all of the adverts I saw were all focused on men because they are about Sports.
Our advert proposal is to make an advert of people dancing with lots of energy. Our idea is to start off with a shot of either one, or a few people's feet walking into a dance studio and throwing their bag on the floor. Then. we are going to get shots of different body parts while the person, or people are dancing. When we edit this advert we will use many clips flashing quickly. This will show the energy when the people are dancing. At the end of the advert, one person will put down their Lucozade Sport drink in front of the camera to advertise it and show that it gives you a lot of energy.

This advert targets the right audience. This is because I done some of my own research and i found out that most young people are more active than older people. I think that young people are most likely to want to drink energy drinks as they will need the energy.  For example; when they go to the gym.

This advert will attract new buyers because young people will be drinking our product, and this will catch on. Soon enough, all young people will be part of the trend. Also, our advert will attract both male and female. We will do this by using both males and females in our advert.

I think this advert should be shown later on in the day, around 6pm, as we are trying to attract young people, but we need to be careful of showing this advert to young children as there are some dance moves in there which young children may try to copy at home. I think this advert should be sponsored by Umbro because this company is most likely to sponsor sport related products.

We will need many different things. These are; costumes, camera, tripod, dolly, actors and actresses, and the dance studio. I will take two days to film this advert, then three days to edit, and lastly, one day to clean up the rough cut.

This is my pitch.

Task 4 - Identifying Potential Problems

Task Four - Identifying Potential Problems

In our advertisment, we have ensured that we will not come across any issues. We have done this by discussing what problems we could come across, and making sure we do not involve these problems in our advert. In this advertisment, there will be high lifts and some moves that could influence children into trying it at home. This could be dangerous, so we will be showing this advert after 7pm. We will avoid using copyright music, and will find some music with no copyright intended. We will not false advertise, and make sure that the idea of drinking Lucozade Sport will not portray that it will make you an amazing dancer, but it will come across as helping you in order to achieve this. We will be careful as to what to have in our advert due to risky content. The actors and actresses will be fully clothed with not a lot of skin showing, this means it will not come across as being offensive to a certain sex. Our idea is origional and is not copyrighted. We know this by researching every Lucozade Sport advert there is and making sure there are no adverts the same as ours. This means our advert is origional and we will not get into any trouble for copyright, risky content, false advertising, etc.

Task 3 - Research for production

Task Three - Research for production

We need to find out about each of the following things before you can start a practical production because if anything goes wrong or if there are any faults, we need to know in advance so we can change what we are doing and have a different idea as a back up.

Technical Equipment
The equipment we will need is a camera, tripod, a dolly the Lucozade Sport drink, and to use our school dance studio. We will get the camera, dolly and tripod from our school Media block. We will not need to hire out any equipment as we have it all in school. We will buy the Lucozade Sports drinks from a local shop, which will cost around three pounds.  We will be filming for around 3 days as we will be doing it during lessons aswell as doing it in our own time. The shoots will take around two hours per day to do. We will do many different shots and edit them all together.
Potential Filming Locations

We will be filming our advertisment in our school dance studio. We will get permission of of the school dance teacher and go there during free periods in school time as well as lunch time. We only need to walk round to the dance studio. The only problem we could face is the dance studio not being free at times, but we can work round this and it will work out.

Actors and Actresses
For our advert, we are using my peir and I. We do not need anyone else in this advert. We may be using our P.E teachers to show energy. They are also young, therefore, it will still appeal to young people. We are both female, and sixteen years of age. We will need to hold auditions to choose suitable cast members. In this advertisment, we will not be paying any money to the actors, and we will not be using the general public.
Costumes and Props
The costumes we will need, we will need dance costumes or sports wear. We will ask if any of the actors or actresses have any of the costumes or props already and go from there. We will store the costumes in a store room in the dance studio to keep them safe. We will not be spending any money on costumes or props.

Task 2 - Ideas Generation

Task Two - Ideas Generation

Our first idea was to produce an advert of people in the gym drinking Lucozade Sport. The form of this advert is a realist advert as people in the gym will have a drink, which would be Lucozade Sport. The style of this advert would be a sex appeal because we would have used attractive people in the gym. The content in this advert would be people in the gym using the equipment. There would be different close ups of parts of the body working out. The target audience would be teenagers as young people are the ones with the most energy and they look after themselves alot more while they are young and healthy. Our advert appeals to the right target audience as they are most likely to be in the gym and drinking sports drinks such as Lucozade Sport. The unique selling point is that it is focused on women and men. The price is low. This means people will want to buy our product.

Our second idea was to produce an advert of dancing and drinking Lucozade Sport. The form of this advert is a realist advert as it is an everyday thing to do, and it will show how Lucozade Sport keeps you energised for longer. The style of this advert is sex appeal as there will be two girls dancing and sweating. This would inspire girls and attract boys. The target audience is both female and male teenagers. This advert appeals to the right audience as the two girls in the advert are both teenagers, and it is going to appeal to teenagers. The unique selling point of this advert is that is it focused on both female and male. It shows how it keeps you energised and it will while you are dancing or exercising. The price is low, which also attracts people.

Task 1 -Market and Target Audience Research - Part 4 and 5

Our chosen product for our advert; Lucozade Sport

Focus Group Questions;

1) What do you like about our chosen product?
It is refreshing, energy boosting, and it has attractive packaging.

2) What do you not like about our chosen product?
The price, and the bottle shape.

3) What is your favourite flavour?
Orange, lemon and lime

4) Why do you buy this product?
The flavour, and it gives you energy.

5) What sort of things would make you buy this product? (not including price)
If you went to the gym, and if you need energy.

6) (Show advert - David Cheung in ITV Sports drink Advert 2013) What do you like about this advert?
It gives a statement, technical knowledge, and it has facts. It is a very different advert.

7) What do you not like about this advert?
It is sexist, there are only men in this advert. There should be people of all different sizes too.

8) How can we improve on selling Lucozade Sport?
Add more facts, make sure it is not too much towards an actual sport. Make sure it is fun but doesn't get boring.

9) If you had a choice, what flavour would you create?
Mango, apple.

10) Personally, do you think that Lucozade Sport gives YOU energy?
To a certain extent, to make you feel boosted.

During the focus group, I discovered that a lot of people like to drink lucozade, and they use it when they are using energy. In my advert, I am going to include dancing, in order to show that Lucozade gives you energy and you can do a lot of activity but not get tired easily. Some poeple in the focus group said Lucozade gives you energy but not a lot, this shows that i will convince them that it is very energising.

Task 1 -Market and Target Audience Research - Part 3

This question says; 'What is your gender?'. By the answers, i can see that three people are female and five people are male.

This question is; 'What is your age?'. By the answers, i can see that seven people are aged 16-30, and one person is 50+.

This question says; 'What is your favourite drink?'. I can see by the answers that the most popular drink is tea. Three people likes tea the most. Then, Pepsi, Red Wine, Fanta Fruit Twist, Strawberry Water, and one person answered as Various. This shows that people like many different varieties of drinks. It seemed to be that the target audience i am looking at liked tea and fizzy drinks.

By these answers, i can see that people like many different hobbies. Every different hobby was ticked, except for Yoga, Fishing, Hunting and Baseball and Softball. This shows that many people like different hobbies. It also shows how many different hobbies there actually are. The target audience i am looking at liked things like swimming, football and dancing. I can see that many people do lots of different healthy hobbies, which makes you exercise while having fun.

I can see by this question that two people said they get slightly too little exercise, one person said they got somewhat too little, one person said much too little, one person said about the right amount and three people said much too much. I can see that the target audience i am looking at mostly said they get much too much exercise or about the right amount. This shows that my target audience all exercise quite a bit.

Lastly, i can see by this question that the people asked liked chicken or pasta the most. The food that the people i asked wrote down was mostly foods that gave you slow release energy. The target audience i am looking at answered as things like pasta, therefore, i can see that these people like healthy foods.

I will use this market research to make my advert by using the information taken from each table and deciding on what will be in the advert exactly. For example; the amount of exercise people get. I will put in lots of energy into this advert and make people want to exercise more.

Task 1 -Market and Target Audience Research - Part 1

Market and Target Audience Research

In this video there a celebrity called Professor Green. He is talking in the background in this video. It is full of music and people cheering in it. The form of the advert is talking heads, and the style is famous faces. The shots used are long shots, mid shots and eye line shots. This is effective as it  you get to see a celebrity on the advert close up, and you see everything that is happening in the video. It is Professor Green talking in the background, this is effective as he is also in the advert. It is memorable as he is famous and he is making the product appeal to people of all ages and genders. The audience want to be like him and they copy him too. There is nothing in this advert that is inappropriate, although using a singer is not a very good way of advertising the product.

In this advert, there are many Olympic athletes performing. It shows that when they drink Powerade, they perform really well. The form of the advert is a talking heads advert, and the style of this advert is famous faces. The camera shots used are mid shots and long shots. This is effective as we see every movement that the athletes are making. The music is low and vivid, this is very effective as it shows tension. This advert is memorable as it is famous athletes who are in it. The product is appealing as there are famous people drinking the drink and the fans will want to copy them and do the same. It is suitable for the audience as it is targeted at all sorts of ages and gender. It is not inappropriate.

In this advert, there are two sides, these are lucozade and water. The side of the water shows that it is not as good as lucozade as it doesn't give you as much energy. The form of this advert is documentary. The style of the advert is that there is no style for it. The different camera shots used are long shots, mid shots, and eye line shots. This is effective as you can see the mens facial expressions and how well they look while running on the running machines. The sound used is vivid. It is appealing as it shows that lucozade will make you more energetic for longer. This is not very memorable as there is nothing special in it. It is not very suitable and is quite inappropriate as there are only men in this video and it seems quite sexist.

In this advert, there is a football game being played. There are lots of men sweating. It says in the advert that if you drink Lucozade, you will stay fitter for longer. The form of the advert is a realist narrative advert. the style of the advert is a repetition advert. The camera used long shots, mid shots and some close ups. This is effective as we see the sweat on the footballer's faces, the way they are running, and we see how active they are when they drink lucozade. The music it uses is quite low beat and there are only a few different notes in it. The music seems quite serious, then when the voice over starts talking, it is in a really serious voice and low pitched. It is not really a memorable advert because there is not much going on in it. The product is really only appealing to men as it is a football advert. It is suitable for the audience as men will think that they will be good at football. It is slightly inappropriate as it is targeted at men and not women and it is sexist.

In this advert, there are two Wayne Rooney's. One drinks a normal drink, and the other drinks Powerade, the one who drinks Powerade is better at playing football as he has more energy. The style of the advert is a famous faces advert. The form of the advert is a realist narrative advert. The camera has long shots, mid shots, and close ups. This helps to see the mans facial expressions, the way they are moving, and the way they are playing the game. The sound is uses is music which is quite active, and it seems like they are moving quickly, just like the music. It is memorable because Wayne Rooney is in it, and he is a famous football player. The product is appealing because it shows that if you drink Powerade, then you will become very energetic and good at football. It is suitable for the audience it is targeting because active people will drink this to have more energy. The only thing that does not seem appropriate is that one of the Wayne Rooney's is topless. This is the one which is more energetic.
