Sources Of Information

Shot List
The pre production document for the advert was helpful because it helped the editing part of it. Also, when I forgot what shot was next, i just looked at the shot list and saw what shot was next. Before my next filming assignment, i will improve my work by working on my own next time as there was some complications in the group.

Contingency Plan
This was to make sure know what to do if any problems occur. Luckily, there were no problems during this advert. If there was, i would know how to overcome them.

Contact Details
The production schedule is to use if some of the actors/actresses are not there in time. On this production sheet there are contact numbers for all of the actors/actresses. This is very useful because if someone is unable to come, then you can get in contact with them.

Production Budget
The budget document was not very helpful because I did not need to pay for the space or the costumes. In the filming industry, if i had to film, I would ensure that i have all of my budget sorted so there are no complications.

Story Board
The story boards were helpful because when I was filming, i looked at the story board if I got confused I looked at the story board and understood what was coming next. Next time, I will make the story board clearer amd more detailed, so i know exactly what i am doing.

Shooting Schedule
I only used the shooting schedule before i started filming, as i did not find it useful while in the process of actually filming the shots.

Risk Assessment
These production sheets were not used in the process as nobody had any accidents. The risk assessment productions sheets were useful because if anybody got hurt, then i was able to look on the sheet and see the actors/actresses contact details. Luckily, nobody got hurt.

Call Sheet
This was used to make sure everyone knew what time they had to go to film, and where they had to go too. Luckily for me, everyone who was involved in the advert turned up in the right place at the right time.

Location Visit
The location visit was important because it told everyone where they had to go during the filming process. It told everyone what problems could occur and what you will have to do to make sure that they are avoided.

Costume and Props
I did not find this sheet helpful because it only showed what everyone had to wear and use. I did not find this helpful as there was only me in the actual video and i wore one thing the whole way through.

The most useful production sheet was the story board as it had told everyone what shots were coming up, and what camera angles there was. I had to change some of the shots because there was an issue with our group, so there was only me dancing in it. I felt like it helped because it was easier to do it on my own.

Overall, where there was a change in the group, most of these production sheets did not work as well as they could have. If i had a chance next time, i would completely work on my own so i am not relying on anyone else to be involved in it.

Task 2- Production

Production

When making the adverisement, we had to sign out our camera and tripod and keep them with us at home until we finished the advert. This meant we had to look after them.
We made sure we had enough light for our shots because in the dance studio, there are lights on either side of the walls, above the mirror, and on the cieling, therefore we had a range of different light contrasts.
We instructed the actresses by telling them what to do and showing them what they needed to do before hand so it was not confusing.
We considered health and safety throughout the shot by making sure the floor was not wet, making sure that the dancers were bare footed, and making sure that there was no dangerous stunts that could hurt anyone.

When uploading the footage, I put it up, and it was not going to be used in the final advert as the footage was not good enough. I filmed again and uploaded it. Then, i saw that it was looking really good and i was going to use it.

When organising the clips, i put them in order of what ones i was going to use at the beginning and the end of the advert. I put them order because it helped when it came to putting them on the timeline and fitting them together. If i did not do this, i would have took a lot longer than i did to edit the advert.

I used a range of editing tools. I cropped the footage in the screen at first, to have two of the same clip playing next to eachother. I thought that this did not look nice, so i took it out. I did not use any transitions in this advert because when i did, it took away the effect of fast, energising moves. So instead, i used video filters because it looked effective. For example; at the end when there is black and white clip with just the green and yellow colour of the bottle at the front.

When looking for music, i decided to use the song "Hideaway by Kieza", the instrumental version because it has a good beat on it. When i uploaded it, i took the middle part of the song because it was upbeat and the beat matched the dance moves. This showed energy. I used a key frame and faded in the music at the beginning and out at the end because at the end i had to hear the slogan being said.

I did not use any text during my advert as i felt that there was no need to put in any text. The text, in my mind, looked messy.

I imported the clips and music easily, as i just pressed import and clicked on which ones i wanted to use. It was simple and quick so i had more time to actually edit the clips rather than waiting for a while to have them be finished importing.

I exported the film using the format settings by clicking export and "Using Quicktime Conversation". Then i clicked on the right settings, size and options, then it was ready to be put up onto youtube and onto my blog.

Task 1 – Pre-production

Proposal
Prepared by
Nicola Howard

For our media production, we will be creating a 30 second advertisement, trying to convince the public to buy our product, Lucozade Sport. We will be targeting an audience of young adults and teenagers. This is because they are the most active and energetic people. Our advert will be aimed at both male and females. The advertisement will show how the drink performs by giving people energy.

The advertisement will be shot in a dance studio where the lighting is homely and there is a large space. The advert will be about two girls who are dancing and get tired, then they drink Lucozade Sport and feel energized and carry on dancing.

Contingency Plan
Name: Nicola Howard

Production: Lucozade Sport - Dance

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:

There could be a few problems with our production. These are;

- We may have problems with not having the dance studio free at times. We will overcome this by doing a time plan of when we can film during each day.

- We need to be very careful when filming in case any of the dancers has an accident. We can prevent this by not doing anything too dangerous and limiting ourselves to what we can do, personally, when dancing.

- There may not be the right equipment free during the times we are filming. We will overcome this by making sure we keep the right time schedule and not changing the dates. This will make sure that we definitely have the equipment we need.
